Midnight Express Gets U.S. Navy Contract for Fleet of 39' Interceptors

Midnight Express is proud to announce that it has recently been awarded a contract by the US Navy to supply a fleet of our 39' Interceptors in 2009.

The 39’ Interceptor, built by Midnight Express Powerboats, is a time-tested interdiction vessel built for high speed rough water missions. The Interceptor can be powered by diesel inboard engines with surface drives capable of high speed and allowing for use of the same diesel fuel used on most large government vessels. The new, highly efficient four-stroke outboard motors are another popular option. They provide higher speed and maneuverability along with more redundancy and quicker engine swaps. In either configuration, the Midnight Express 39’ Interceptor is the best rough water capable boat on the market, capable of comfortably reaching full speeds in much higher seas than other boats, thereby making it much more difficult for suspects to escape. This is especially true when multiple Midnight Express Interceptors are used in combination to trap suspects. They are usually deployed in pairs for this capability.

The Midnight Express Interceptor has been used successfully by many government agencies around the world. The most well known of these is the US Customs agency which currently owns 38 of the Midnight Express 39’ Interceptors. These US Customs interceptors are used daily in various conditions to interdict all types of vessels, both fast and slow, carrying illegal drugs and persons. We can also work with you to configure the boats so they can accept many different types of weapons such as machine guns as well as long range cameras or night vision deevices. These vessels can also be used for reconnaissance missions due to the newest technologies in quiet motors and quick maneuvering capabilities offered by the 39’ Interceptor hull.

The Interceptors are able to be lifted on board larger military vessels by means of slings or by utilizing optional lifting eyes mounted to the structure of the Midnight Express. This approach has been utilized by many government agencies and has helped to bring the unique capabilities of Midnight Express Interceptors to wherever they are needed in the world.
